Upper bounds on the rate of low density stabilizer codes for the quantum erasure channel

چکیده
Using combinatorial arguments, we determine an upper bound on achievable rates of stabilizer codes used over the quantum erasure channel. This allows us to recover the nocloning bound on the capacity of the quantum erasure channel, R ≤ 1− 2p, for stabilizer codes: we also derive an improved upper bound of the form R ≤ 1 − 2p − D(p) with a function D(p) that stays positive for 0 < p < 1/2 and for any family of stabilizer codes whose generators have weights bounded from above by a constant – low density stabilizer codes. We obtain an application to percolation theory for a family of self-dual tilings of the hyperbolic plane. We associate a family of low density stabilizer codes with appropriate finite quotients of these tilings. We then relate the probability of percolation to the probability of a decoding error for these codes on the quantum erasure channel. The application of our upper bound on achievable rates of low density stabilizer codes gives rise to an upper bound on the critical probability for these tilings.

Finite-length analysis of low-density parity-check codes on the binary erasure channel
In this paper, we are concerned with the finite-length analysis of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes when used over the binary erasure channel (BEC). The main result is an expression for the exact average bit and block erasure probability for a given regular ensemble of LDPC codes when decoded iteratively. We also give expressions for upper bounds on the average bit and block erasure probab...
متن کاملExhausting Error-Prone Patterns in LDPC Codes
It is proved in this work that exhaustively determining bad patterns in arbitrary, finite low-density paritycheck (LDPC) codes, including stopping sets for binary erasure channels (BECs) and trapping sets (also known as nearcodewords) for general memoryless symmetric channels, is an NP-complete problem, and efficient algorithms are provided for codes of practical short lengths n ≈ 500. By explo...
متن کاملImproved Bounds on the Parity-Check Density and Achievable Rates of Binary Linear Block Codes with Applications to LDPC Codes
We derive bounds on the asymptotic density of parity-check matrices and the achievable rates of binary linear block codes transmitted over memoryless binary-input output-symmetric (MBIOS) channels. The lower bounds on the density of arbitrary parity-check matrices are expressed in terms of the gap between the rate of these codes for which reliable communication is achievable and the channel cap...
متن کاملIterative Decoding Performance Bounds for LDPC Codes on Noisy Channels
The asymptotic iterative decoding performances of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes using min-sum (MS) and sum-product (SP) decoding algorithms on memoryless binary-input output-symmetric (MBIOS) channels are analyzed in this paper. For MS decoding, the analysis is done by upper bounding the bit error probability of the root bit of a tree code by the sequence error probability of a subcode ...
متن کاملBounds on the Number of Iterations for Turbo-Like Ensembles over the Binary Erasure Channe
This paper provides simple lower bounds on the number of iterations which is required for successful message-passing decoding of some important families of graph-based code ensembles (including low-density parity-check codes and variations of repeat-accumulate codes). The transmission of the code ensembles is assumed to take place over a binary erasure channel, and the bounds refer to the asymp...
